Jimmy Biggs Golf Benefit Another Success for Alumni, Staff and Supporters

Cabrini Connections held its 13th annual Jimmy Biggs Golf Benefit and Fundraiser at Highland Park Country Club in Highland Park, Ill. Thursday, July 17 bringing together approximately 56 golfers and raising $45,000 (and counting) for the continued support of tutoring/mentoring opportunities and the growth of Cabrini Connections and Tutor/Mentor Connection.

Golfers — including board members, volunteer alumni, Cabrini staff and supporters — were greeted by a hot sunny day, with temperatures piquing into the 90s but still had a great day of scrambles and fun. Everyone enjoyed drinks from the drink cart, with everything from water and spirits to Gatorade to replenish lost electrolytes on those difficult holes (hole 16 consisted of getting the ball over the large pond and in between two large beautiful weeping willow trees) .

As a result of the event, we received some great pledges of support on the silent auction donations. With a stellar turnout of authentic items from some of the national sports leagues' best professional athletes, like Northwestern alumni Miami Dolphins' Ikechuku "Ike" Ndukwe and Barry Cofield, starting Defensive Tackle for the Super Bowl XLII Champions, the New York Giants. We also had a tremendous amount of support from local businesses and organizations.

We send a special thanks to all of our sponsors, auction donors and players and participants for making the 2008 Jimmy Biggs Golf Benefit and Fundraiser a huge success.

A gigantic thank you goes out to each committee member for their dedication and to their employers for allowing them the time to participate in this annual phenomenal event. We hope to bring out more golfers next year, raise more money and continue to get the community involved and invested in what we do here. Thanks so much for your continued support.
