I've been doing a lot of workplace campaigning through Combined Federal Campaign and Community Shares of Illinois. A lot of it involves going to certain companies and government agencies to present Cabrini Connections, Tutor/Mentor Connection to them and trying to convince them why their workplace donation should go to us, versus the other four or five charities in the room saying why what they do is important.
I think it's an easy sell for us. After all, we are a one-of-a-kind organization that specializes in a more relationship building aspect of tutoring and mentoring. Many organizations focus on one or the other, tutoring or mentoring. Few focus on the combination. Few have a specific goal in mind besides helping a student figure out their math problem along with any life problems. We do.
But we don't expect you, our concerned volunteer to talk everyone's ear off who you come across about why they should give us money (however, if you feel comfortable enough to do so, don't let us stop you) but there may be another way you can give, help others to give.
Everyone can put the CSI logo on their web page, their blog, their photo accounts, etc. with a link to how to give to us via Community Shares of Illinois.
By doing this you encourage people to go online to make a donation via CS IL and designate that donation to us. We are listed in the drop down menu under "Women, Children and Family."
Over the next three weeks, I'm going to be encouraging my colleagues to write a workplace fundraising blog to their networks, including the link above. This way, we will ALL be pointing those of you who are so kind to listen to us to this way to help. If you give them some text and coaching they can all do. I will also be trying to start our own workplace campaign here at Cabrini Connections, Tutor/Mentor Connection. After all, I know I personally am more willing to do when someone is leading by example!
We want to be that example for you... please give and be an example for someone in YOUR network.
