"You Can't Afford Not To Give"

I'm attending the Black United Fund of Illinois' Living Legends Passing the Torch gala this evening. It's my first, but the organization's 8th annual. The evening will consist a catered reception, silent auction, entertainment and an awards ceremony to honor the pioneers and living legends who have invested time, effort and energy in a vision that they wished to see passed on to another generation.

Cabrini Connections is an affiliated organization with the Black United Fund of Illinois (BUFI) much like our sister organization, Tutor/Mentor Organization, is listed through Community Shares of lllinois. It's another way to give through combined charities. The BUFI was "designed to improve the quality of life for African Americans through reliance on self-help at the local community level. At the root of this philosophy is the statewide goal of developing systematic mechanisms to rally resources for the African American community."

But we haven't been as active or involved with BUFI, because we haven't used it to our potential, hence where I come in. I will be doing some serious networking and mingling trying to see how we can use this partnership to our benefit, but to also see what kind of calendar of events they have all year long. Just like in any partnership, the more you come out to, support, the more your name is remembered and helped. So I look forward to resurrecting this relationship tonight.

If you are interested in giving to Cabrini Connections through BUFI, find us in the drop down menu and specify the amount you'd like to give to help us continue our efforts. Perhaps, I'll see you tonight?
