The Annual Cabrini Connections Year-End Dinner Celebration to be Held June 12, 2008
We hope our students, volunteers, alumni and donors will attend.
The dinner celebrates the successful end of one year while kicking off the forward progression of the next year (2008-2009) with the summer programs and annual recruitment campaign. We have four students graduating from high school this year, after an amazing five to six years doing positive work and bettering themselves with Cabrini Connections. We also have more than 20 seventh and eighth graders who will need our support for four or five more years and beyond.
This year's dinner will be held from 6-8 p.m., Thursday, June 12 at Cornerstone Academy located at 1111 N. Wells in Chicago. Please RSVP to tutormentor2@earthlink.net before June 6 to guarantee a spot at this monumental event in our students' year. Guests may also RSVP by returning the direct mail invitation sent to them or by calling Cabrini Connections at 312-492-9614.
During our celebration, please look for Cabrini Connections staff to network and build with. We will be reaching out for donations (be they monetary, volunteer recruitment or resources for our students) and building connections with alumni, future students, volunteers, parents and you donors alike. We will also be awarding some of our program's TOP students with awards for Most Improved, Most Motivated, Best Overall Academic Achievement and our Jimmy Biggs Citizenship Award. These awards commend our students for their work all year long and show them we appreciate their drive. You won't want to miss this!
All proceeds raised from the dinner fund raising efforts support our budding summer activities (with an official start date of June 23 but going on right now) and next fiscal year efforts to help inner-city youth connect one-on-one with workplace volunteers who act as their tutor/mentor for hopefully many calendar years to come, extending their learning opportunities, thirst for knowledge and wants to excel. Please encourage your coworkers, friends and family to make a donation to support this continuous work.
As always, browse my colleagues' blogs to read different visions and commentary and learn about more ways you can support volunteer-based tutoring and mentoring in the Chicago region and other cities across the country, should you desire.
